Construction Update - December 2009
BREAD FOR THE CITY
(December 9, 2009)

In the vacant lot next to Bread for the City, 1525 - 7th Street NW, a huge drill and a bulldozer now sit -- evidence that construction work began last month!

Executive Director George Jones said that Bread for the City in Ward 2 is going to more than double the size of their building – adding 11,000 square feet to a 9,000 square foot building, and adding elements of a green design to an historic building.  This expanded facility will allow them to have almost 2 ˝ times the practice that they have now and be able to expand from seeing 3,000 patients to 6,000 and provide 9,000 patient visits per year to maybe as many as 19,000 - 20,000 patient visits.

Bread for the City provides vulnerable DC residents with comprehensive services, including food, clothing, medical, and dental care for adults and children, and legal and social services/case management.

DCPCA awarded One of Best, Catalogue of Philanthropy

Yes, I believe everyone deserves to get the right care, at the right time, and in the right place -- regardless of their ability to pay.

I want to support DCPCA's efforts to bring primary care to DC's low-income and uninsured residents.
