DCPCA's CEO Sharon Baskerville explains her vision for this year's annual meeting theme -- Hard Times in the Land of Plenty: A Conversation with the Blues.
|
Watching health centers struggle, cut back services, and programs go under, Sharon understood that it was hard times in the land of plenty, and that we had to tap into the spirit during these tough times. |
Sharon thought about Willie "Pinetop" Perkins. At 96 years old, Pinetop is the oldest living Delta blues musician still performing. His face is her image of "Just hold on; Nobody knows the trouble you've seen; Believe" -- and hope. |
Before we settle or compromise, let's speak what the dream is and fight for it -- Health Care is a Right! If you're feeling discouraged, just hold on! |
|
After introducing guitarist Mick Martin and harmonica player, Henry Martin, Sharon sits back to listen to the beginning of a conversation with the blues.
