DC Primary Care Association [posted January 20, 2010] The Medical Homes DC Quality Improvement Manager is a member of the Medical Homes DC team and will work collaboratively with the team on developing and implementing performance improvement education opportunities/activities with our community health centers. The Health Quality Improvement Manager must be self-motivated, able to manage multiple tasks, able to work with diverse people and groups, and carry a heavy workload. This position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of various programs, quality improvement activities, and grant projects for DCPCA. The Health Quality Improvement Manager will also provide guidance to the community health center leadership and staff on process improvement applications and innovative approaches to health care management challenges. The applicant must be able to interact comfortably with senior staff, District officials, and community leaders as needed. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and maximum accountability. JOB DESCRIPTION FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Director of Quality Improvement and Operations Supervisory Responsibilities: None Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: Develops and maintains an organizational and overall systems approach for Quality Improvement Initiatives. Designs a data collection strategy to develop, collect, analyze, report, and measure the Quality Improvement Initiatives. Manages multiple improvement projects simultaneously. Reviews monthly reports and continually assesses progress, needs, and recommends interventions to achieve DCPCA's goals. Provides written monthly and quarterly project updates; provides verbal updates as needed. Provides coaching and technical assistance to Quality Improvement teams for member organizations and other District teams. Develops curriculum content and presentations for learning sessions. Facilitates all project activities including the preparation of agendas and identifying appropriate faculty and presenters. Works with staff to create a culture of excellence fostering community based teams in the process of organizational improvement. Chairs facility quality improvement meetings and develops presentations to committees. Implements quality improvement educational opportunities as directed by Director of Quality Improvement and Operations. Develops relationships and ensures regular communication with member organizations and other key stakeholders (including but not limited to District agencies and health coalitions). Performs related responsibilities as required. Education and/or Experience: Degree in a health-related field, plus five years experience. RN or other clinical license preferred. Performance improvement or quality improvement certification a plus. Work experience in a community health center preferred. Knowledge of QI collaborative methods of learning and participation on a collaborative team preferred. Familiarity with the Institute for Health Care Improvement Collaborative Improvement Model and other PI methodology. Experience in team environment and team building. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of performance improvement methodology and evaluation. Knowledge of group dynamics and management tools. Knowledge of sophisticated presentation techniques. Knowledge of the diverse functions and activities of the District's safety net. Skill in establishing priorities, organizing work with multiple competing priorities, and problem solving. Knowledge of basic data analysis and interpretation. Excellent planning and organizational skills. Skills in establishing priorities and organizing work with multiple competing priorities. Skill in oral and written communication. Strong computer skills particularly in commonly used Microsoft office software, including Word, Access Project Management, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel.
