Announces JacquelinE D. Bowens to Step Down as CEO
Washington, DC (September 9, 2016) -- DC Primary Care Association (DCPCA) Board of Directors announced today that Jacqueline D. Bowens will be stepping down as Chief Executive Officer effective October 28, 2016.
Ms. Bowens has held the position of CEO since 2013. Prior to DC Primary Care Association, Ms. Bowens served as Executive Vice President and Chief, Government and External Affairs Officer at Children's National Medical Center.
During her time with DCPCA, Ms. Bowens championed numerous efforts to realize a more equitable and effectual health care system in the District of Columbia. These efforts include a new value-based policy framework and payment rates for DC health centers, collaborative planning initiatives for enhanced care coordination for DC Medicaid beneficiaries, and vital community-based input into DC's citywide health planning process. Her leadership contributions to DCPCA elevated the presence, profile, and voice for the organization at a time of much change in the local health care landscape.
In tendering her resignation, Ms. Bowens expressed her deep gratitude and appreciation to the Board of Directors, members and DCPCA staff, noting that, "having the opportunity to lead this organization, remains one of the best decisions I ever made. The value of the work, the relationships established and fortified and most importantly, the thousands of people that benefit from this amazing network of primary care providers, will continue to be a major influence in my life. It has been an amazing journey, one that I will cherish always".
"Jackie has provided strong, effective leadership during a time of much change," said Don Blanchon, Chair of DCPCA's Board of Directors. "She developed a vision for the future that offers DC health centers a clear roadmap to better serve the communities we call home. The Board of Directors is grateful for Jackie's contributions and wishes her much health, happiness and success in her next chapter. "
The Board of Directors is currently working with Ms. Bowens to ensure a smooth and orderly leadership transition for the organization. A formal search process will commence within the next 30 days.
