Cancer Patient Navigator

Heidy Umana has extensive experience in healthcare coordination and navigation and is a dedicated cancer patient navigator. With her exceptional abilities, she adeptly assists individuals in navigating complicated healthcare systems, ensures their access to essential resources, and encourages patient engagement via educational outreach initiatives. Heidy is highly motivated to make significant improvements to the District of Columbia's healthcare system through advocating successful outcomes for patients needing care, increasing breast cancer screening, and decreasing breast cancer mortality. Her radiology expertise and direct experience as a medical assistant render her an asset to our Cancer Patient Navigation Program.

Heidy, in her role as a cancer patient navigator at Project Wish DC Health Program for DCPCA, is assisting Breast Care For Washington patients in navigating a comprehensive care plan and establishing connections to prevention, follow-up and treatment. This includes facilitating access to screening mammograms, diagnostic imaging, biopsies, , and linkage to treatment care.
