Save Our Health Centers!!
Save Our Health Centers!
As many are aware, the mandatory funding for health centers expires on September 30, 2017. Neither the Continuing Resolution that keeps the government running until December 2017 nor legislation to raise the Debt Ceiling included provisions to extend the health center funding. In addition, scheduled expirations of other key programs critical to health centers and the patients they serve are also looming as their funding will run out on September 30th. Health centers face a 70% reduction in their HRSA funding: in the District this means the loss of over $16 million our health centers rely on to provide high quality, comprehensive care to anyone who needs it.
Please join DCPCA in advocating that Congress “Fix the Cliff” and ensure that health centers are funded beyond September 30th. Loss of the funding means health centers could serve over 13,000 fewer patients in 2018. Over 13,000 of our neighbors may not have access to preventive care, help managing chronic illness, or life-improving and saving medications that help them get and stay well.
