MHDC is committed to improving access to high quality primary care in the District’s medically underserved neighborhoods.  We offer funding, technical assistance, and special programs that build, expand, and improve health centers so that they can care for those in greatest need.

Issues and Advocacy Priorities

DCPCA helps right the injustices in our health care system by addressing the need for all DC residents to have access to health insurance, regardless of their ability to pay, and find primary care in their own communities.

Adolescent Wellness Initiative

As Adolescent Ambassadors, teens learn about their own health and well-being from leading professionals – in health, law, finance, communications, business, and etiquette – and speak up and promote health and wellness throughout their community.

The Medical Homes DC Area Health Education Center is recognized as an identifiable leader and resource in workforce development at the community level serving the uninsured and underserved in the District of Columbia.

Emergency Room Diversion Pilot Program

Too many DC residents still turn to the emergency room for their health care.  These visits for non-emergent conditions could be treated in an outpatient primary care setting at a much lower cost.
