District of Columbia Policy and Advocacy

The Committee on Health’s public oversight hearing on “The Proposed Replacement of the Affordable Care Act and Its Impact on District of Columbia Residents”, scheduled for July 12, 2017 at 11am, has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date.  For any questions, please contact Malcolm Cameron, Legislative Analyst, at 202-654-6179.

Have you seen the final draft of the District of Columbia Health Systems Plan (HSP)? The State Health Planning and Development Agency (SHPDA) will use the HSP to determine if Certificate of Need applications address community needs and show public health value. The HSP assesses health service gaps, capacity, utilization, and distribution of health services in the context of health equity. In addition to direct health system assessment, the HSP also considers social determinants of health and the impact of inequality and injustice on health status to determine priorities and action plans. Stay tuned for DCPCA’s strategic response for discussion in August.
